The FC Barcelona B team opened their 2016/17 pre-season with a bang on Wednesday, giving head coach Gerard López good reason for optimism following a 6–0 victory over l'Escala.
Barça B cruised to the win behind goals from Sarsanedas, Xemi, Lee, Alfaro (2) and Guillemenot.
With the debut of several young players, some of whom have trained with the first team, the reserve squad brought out two starkly different starting line-ups at the beginning of each half.
With Josep M., Palencia, Moisés, Fali, Vilanova, Sarsanedas, Campins, Jon, Lee, Xemi and Paik on the field at the opening whistle, the scoreboard moved early and often. Barça were up 3–0 at the break.
The line-up to start the second half included Sergi Puig, Nili, Chumi, Montes, Cucurella, Busquets, Xemi, Paik, Alfaro, Guillemenot and Lee. That combination equalled the scoring output of the first, giving Barça a half dozen goals on the evening.
With an impressive season debut behind them, Barça B will return to training on Thursday evening and will play another friendly on Saturday at 10.00am CET. Barça B face Santfeliuenc at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
