Neymar has won the Samba Gold trophy for the best Brazilian in European football, being voted ahead of all the other 29 candidates to win the award for the first time in his career. He will be presented with the trophy in February.
Barça full-back Dani Alves was also on the shortlist and finished in 21st place. Voters include football writers and experts, including such former players as Cafú, Raí and Taffarel, as well as the general public via an online vote.
Thiago Silva was the winner of the previous three editions, and Dani Alves came second in 2011. This is the seventh edition of an award that has been running since 2008.
