FC Barcelona Women moved within two points of leaders Atlético Madrid on Sunday after defeating Sporting Huelva 5-1 at the Miniestadi.
The side from the capital only managed to draw on the weekend, and Xavi Llorens’ team took full advantage from their rare slip-up.
Olga Garcia got things going after just eight minutes with a fine long-range strike before Mariona Caldentey doubled the side’s advantage on 19’. It was 3-0 at half-time as Patri Guijarro’s header gave Barça a comfortable cushion going into the break.
Still, Barça were in the mood for more. Vicky Losada made it 4-0 just two minutes after the restart, and despite a consolation from Anita Fernández, Jennifer Hermoso got her customary goal in injury-time to wrap up a great day’s work from the Catalans.
